We are located in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, at 152 W 6th Street just West of the Glenwood Hot Springs Pool and Hotel Colorado. We are conveniently located in between both the Rio Grande Trail and The Glenwood Canyon Bike Path. Both Glenwood Canyon Bikes, Blue Sky Rafting, and Colorado Overlander are in the same location.
Depending on weather, Glenwood Canyon Bikes typically opens in late April or early May and closes in late-October. Please call for current operating hours.
Reservations are recommended. Canyon Bikes accepts reservations online, by phone, or by stopping by our office. Walk-ins are welcome, although we encourage advanced reservations to better fulfill each individual’s requests or needs, and because space is limited.
From the trailhead in Glenwood Springs to the Dotsero trailhead at the east end of the Canyon it is 16.2 miles. If you plan on doing the shuttle, we will shuttle you 14 miles up the Glenwood Canyon to the Bair Ranch Rest Area.
No, it is an easy riding trail with the most notable hill located at the No Name rest area. It is paved and well maintained and is in the downhill direction from the east end of the canyon back to Glenwood Springs.
That depends on how fast you ride and how much time you take to enjoy the Canyon, the views and the Colorado River. Our average rider is in the Canyon between 3 and 4 hours. The average time for return if any side hikes are included is 4 to 5 hours.
Just call from a personal cell phone and provide us with your location and information regarding any issues. For swiftest attention, we recommend that you make your way to one of the rest areas where we can best access you. They are the only trail access points for our vans. We will send a staff member to bring replacement equipment or pick you up.
Depending on your service provider cell phone reception is available, but limited, and seems to work best at or near the Rest Areas.
Yes, at each rest area (Bair Ranch, Hanging Lake, Shoshone, Grizzly Creek, and No Name) restrooms are available. With the exception of Shoshone, drinking water, picnic tables, are also available.
We frequently cycle through our equipment and typically purchase new bikes every two years. Our most popular models that we carry are from Rad Power Bikes. We carry the RadMission and Rad Wagon 4 models. We also carry hybrid bicycles from from the Giant and Liv brands.
We have Giant’s 20″ XTC Jr. lite and Giant’s 24″ XTC Jr. lite bikes for kids who can ride independently. For those who need adult assistance we have double child trailers and utilize our RadWagon’s as an E-bike option.
Glenwood Canyon Bikes includes the use of a bike helmet in the cost of the rental and requires its use. Handle bar packs for carrying lunches or personal items and bike locks are available at no extra cost if you need them.
It is 10.2 miles to the Rest Area. The hike up to Hanging Lake is 1.2 miles. The trail steep, with an elevation gain of just over 1,000 feet, but has many places to take a break along the way. (Permits are required)
If you need to cancel your reservation, you may do so up to 12 hours prior to the trip check-in time without any penalty. Any reservation canceled less than 12 hours before the check-in time will be charged 10% of the price of the trip. “No shows” or cancellations made after the “Meeting Time” will be charged the full cost of the trip. Simply call or e-mail to confirm your cancellation or reservation change. We will look forward to seeing you.
