BIKE TRAIL INFORMATION & STATUS

With the Glenwood Canyon Bike Path and the Rio Grande Bike Path, and 100's of miles of single track, Glenwood Springs and the Roaring Fork Valley offer an award winning trail system.  Named a Gold Medal Trail System by the IMBA, one of only six in the entire world, Hanging Lake Adventure Co-op is confident that our valley offers the perfect bike trail for you.  Check out the information below to get the most up-to-date information on the Glenwood Canyon and the Rio Grande Bike Trails, and enjoy the ride!

FULLY OPEN

CURRENT STATUS (AS OF 7/18/2024): The trail is currently fully open from Glenwood Springs (west) to Dotsero (east).

Trail Information & Status - Glenwood Canyon Bike Path

TRAIL INFORMATION:The Glenwood Canyon Bike Path gives you the perfect access to the pristine views of Glenwood Canyon and the Colorado River. This trail is appropriate for all abilities and ages. The bike path goes along the entire length of the Glenwood Canyon and includes access to Hanging Lake Hiking Trail (PERMIT REQUIRED), Grizzly Creek Hike, and the Jess Weaver Trail. There are six rest areas that you will travel through and are as follows: No Name, Grizzly Creek, Shoshone, Hanging Lake, Bair Ranch, Dotsero. The Glenwood Canyon Bike path is the perfect place to take in the views, watch the wildlife, have a picnic, and enjoy the ride.

Rio Grande Bike Trail & Status

PARTIALLY OPEN

CURRENT STATUS & DETOUR NOTICE (AS OF 7/18/2024): Due to road construction near the 27th Street intersection in Glenwood Springs, the Rio Grande Trail is currently closed from 23rd St. to 29th St.  Please visit this LINK for more information. The trail currently has a seasonal closure & detour in place near Catherine Bridge.

Trail Information & Status - Rio Grande Bike Path

TRAIL INFORMATION: The Rio Grande Trail runs all the way from Glenwood Springs to Aspen, Colorado. The Rio Grande is 42 miles in total and is it’s own standalone path. The only vehicular traffic you will encounter is at intersections. The Rio Grande trail is rails to trail project that was constructed on an old railroad bed. Because of this the trail is virtually flat and will no exceed a 3% grade. The trail goes through multiple towns that have great access to breweries & distilleries, restaurants, and art galleries.

• Uses: Road Biking, Horseback Riding, Walking, Jogging, and Rollerblading
• Surface: Pavement (Over 30 miles) Packed Gravel (Roughly 10 miles | From Woody Creek to Aspen)

• Usage: Heavy Use
